Board Refreshment

Whiffle welcomes two new Supervisory Board members

Whiffle, leading provider of high-resolution weather forecasting solutions, announced today the appointment of two new members to its Supervisory Board.

Elisabeth Stevens is well known in the renewable sector through her role as COO of Sunrock, a Dutch developer of large-scale solar roofs throughout Europe. Through different roles with young companies Elisabeth gained a lot of experience in scaling fast-growing international (tech) organizations.

Kuldip Singh, originally a business economist, has years of experience in implementing digital and data strategies. In recent years he has held various leadership roles and led the digital transformation of Innogy Retail (DAX listed) and of the Global Customer Solutions business of E.ON Group (DAX listed). Kuldip is appointed as the new Chairman of Whiffle’s Supervisory Board.

The latest additions to the Whiffle Supervisory Board ensures a diverse and experienced board representation and brings the total to four members including existing members Janneke Bik and Mathijs van Rijk.

About Whiffle

Whiffle’s highly advanced weather model makes renewable energy production more predictable. Optimized by artificial intelligence and machine learning, the company offers the world’s first operational weather model based on Large Eddy Simulation (LES). The calculations of the weather model are run on graphic processing units (GPUs), allowing local turbulence and underlying processes and conditions in the atmosphere to be captured with unprecedented detail.

The model calculates wind speed and solar irradiation with horizontal resolutions of 10’s of meters, including all effects of the surroundings: vegetation, landscape, sea state, obstacles, wake, and blockage effects. More accurate weather forecasting lowers imbalance risk and costs for energy companies. The model can also be used to optimize the configuration of wind farms and better predict future energy yields: aspects that are important for lowering financing costs and increasing annual yields. Application areas of Whiffle’s model include wind and solar power projects and air quality.

Whiffle B.V. was founded in 2015, starting as a spin out of the Dutch Delft University of Technology.

Deze benoemingen zijn tot stand gekomen door bemiddeling van Board Refreshment.
